Who we are
The name Christadelphians means "brothers in Christ" and states clearly what we are: a family of believers in Christ (there are sisters, too!).
Our main aim is to live according to the principles God has given us in His Word, the Bible. This we accept as our only authority, regarding Old and New Testament as of equal value. We try to read the whole Bible at least once a year; as a result of our studies we have come to rather different conclusions on basic beliefs to those of the mainstream churches.
We are organised in "ecclesias", groups of brethren and sisters sharing the same beliefs who live in the same area. Each ecclesia recognises Jesus as its head and tries to grow together as a body, but is independent of other ecclesias. We have no central authority or paid ministry. Responsibility for ecclesial duties is shared out between the members as necessary.
We encourage people to read and understand the Bible, so that they can discover God's message for themselves. In this way we hope they will be convinced of the truth and want to be baptised into Christ and become our brothers and sisters.
At present there are brethren and sisters in more than 100 countries spread across the entire world. The more visual presence on e.g. internet is mainly in those countries which have some freedom of religion. We have been known by the name Christadelphians for about 150 years. In The Netherlands we have been active since 1957.
